She announced that her studio, Bankable Studios, will launch films and a new imprint from Random House, Bankable Books, will release empowering books in 2011, starting with a book called Modeland.

And in the end, she cried, clutched her two Emmys and said, "Sometimes you gotta leave when you're on top." Then she made a final Tyra walk and got down on her hands and knees and kissed the runway. Here's a little snippet from E!

Tyra Banks planning for a Novel

With the end of her daytime talk show coming up this year, Tyra Banks has found another way to connect to the people of America, and not just 600-pound women looking for a paternity test or out-of-control kids who need to go to boot camp. Banks has announced that she is writing a novel, the first of three in a deal with Random House. (The former model previously published a beauty guide in 1998, Tyra’s Beauty, Inside and Out.)

The first book will be called Modelland — clearly the multi-hyphenate did not have any hyphens left for her title. While the 36-year-old author has not disclosed any plot points, she has promised that the tome will be filled with “fierceness and magic.” Which, to be fair, is exactly how Philip Roth described his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Pastoral. The book, like, say, Battleship or Monopoly, is targeted towards that coveted demographic of those “aged anywhere from 8 to 80.”

Banks is a former model who created the popular TV reality show America's Next Top Model. Banks was a top supermodel of the 1990s, when she became the first African-American model featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Famously curvy even by supermodel standards, she was a regular on fashion magazine covers and in the Victoria's Secret catalog. Banks also dabbled in acting, with appearances in the movies Higher Learning (1995, with Jennifer Connelly) and Coyote Ugly (2000, with Piper Perabo). In the new century she shifted her focus to television. In 2003 she began producing and hosting the reality series America's Next Top Model. The show was a hit and spawned spinoffs in Germany, Holland, and many other countries. Banks also began hosting her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, in 2005. Banks announced her retirement from modelling the same year, saying she would focus on her television career.
